Adult stem cells are un-differentiated cells found throughout the body that divide and multiply to replenish dying cells and regenerate damaged tissue. Because they are ‘unspecialised’ they can develop into many of the different cell types the body needs for repair and regenerations, such as heart, muscle, connective tissue or even brain cells. They are in fact the most powerful anti-ageing mechanism know to science today. The most common stem cell is referred to as CD34; and is created in the bone marrow and released into the circulation naturally when required for tissue repair.

Fucoidan

Fucoidan is a multi-functional nutrient from the sea, extracted from Angel’s Hair brown seaweed. It has been consumed as a health food in Asia and the Pacific for over 2000 years and is the subject of over 700 published scientific research studies.

The benefits of Fucoidan are that it defends against degenerative diseases; it is an anti-oxidant protecting against premature ageing. It has an anti-coagulant effect, it inhibits abnormal cell growth, normalises blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol. It improves stomach upsets and supports immune function.*

Fucoidan and Stem Cells

Fucoidan induces rapid mobilisation of stem cells in the body. Cells have sticky patches called ligands that help cell to cell recognition. Leukocytes have a ligand called L-selectin which acts as a ‘homing receptor’ for leukocytes directing them to where they are needed. Fucoidan sticks to L-selectin resulting in a significant increase in stem cells (CD34) with the homing receptor.*

Resveratrol

Resveratrol is a naturally sourced product from red grape skins and Japanese knotweed. It is produced naturally by several plants as a defence against attack by pathogens such as bacteria or fungi. It is the ‘longevity’ ingredient thought to be the main factor in the ‘French Paradox’. (a well known study into the health of the French nation)

In mouse and rat experiments, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, blood-sugar-lowering and beneficial cardiovascular effects have been reported. The studies show that Resveratrol treatment extended the life of many species of animals and physical endurance of mice was also substantially increased.*

The benefits of Resveratrol

Resveratrol mimics effects of calorie restriction. Calorie restriction is the only intervention proved to prolong maximum life span and produce anti-ageing effects in a variety of organisms. French researchers suggested that Resveratrol might help control weight gain by enhancing energy expenditure, and help prevent degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s which are age related. Resveratrol supports blood vessel health, decreases oxidation of LDL, platelet aggregation and relaxes arterioles.

Resveratrol and Stem Cells

There is some scientific evidence showing an interaction of Resveratrol with stem cells. Resveratrol has been demonstrated to protect the cells in cartilage called chondrocytes which are derived from bone marrow stem cells. It also promotes the differentiation of bone cells called osteoblasts, and was shown to enrich stem cells in-vitro.*

The Info-Peptides in Cellworx are the active compounds responsible for communicating with your immune cells and modulating the immune response. As we age our immune cells don’t function as well and the natural levels of the info-peptides are much lower in our system which often leads to illness and susceptibility to disease. For our immune system to function properly we need to boost the level of these compounds.

The power of the info-peptides to reboot your immune system is demonstrated in people who have Acquired Immune Deficiency (AIDS or HIV). This virus turns off the immune system by getting inside the T and B cells, otherwise known as CD4 cells.

In a group of more than 90 patients the levels increased from a median of 275 to greater than 500 counts per mL, which is back in the normal range. The Sialyl-oligosaccharides are important compounds within the body. They are very complex acidic sugars which have a number of functions. They are involved in the transfer of information across the nerve endings, ensuring that the flow of information to critical organs/cells within our body is ongoing and uninterrupted.

The Sialyl-oligosaccharides are absorbed along with the info-peptides under the tongue directly into the blood stream where they are distributed throughout the body making them available for critical nutrient/information transfer. The Sialyl-oligosaccharides also play a role in the immune system - acting like antibodies, binding with deadly viruses and bacteria so they cannot attach to the mucosal surfaces in the body. This important function removes these micro-organisms from the blood where they circulate with the potential to cause damage and illness. A particular example is shown where a Sialyl-oligosaccharides binds to a flu virus.*

Another important function of Cellworx is the delivery of Neuro-peptides. These compounds interact with nerve tissue, particularly in the brain. As we age our brain degenerates. Brain degeneration occurs by a number of mechanisms: (a) formation of beta-amyloid plaques and (b)attack by free radicals. The neuro-peptides have been shown to inhibit the formation of the beta-amyloid plaques and reduce the impact on brain tissue by the free radicals.*
